THE BRIEF
My role as a Social Media Manager at Aligned Social hovered over multiple roles. From content strategist to photographer to copyrighter—I did it all. It was—and still is— a pivotal point in my career. I learned how to manage my own clients, plan and carry out shoots, schedule social calendars and also cover events.
WHAT I OWNED
01
Content Strategy
Creative ideas were always owned and produced by myself and another account manager. They were always backed by research—specifically trend, market and competitor analysis
02
Creative Production
Each client had very different DNA's—this meant that every onboarding was started off with immersing myself in their worlds. This is what allowed me to create & pitch, ideas that would help create & build the brand's world
03
Performance Reporting
At the beginning of every month, client's would receive a report on the month's social media performance. This allowed me to dive into the analytics of each brand and analyse what worked, what didn't and what we can do going forward
KEY CHALLENGES
Strategic Content Mix
Learning how to balance trend-led posts with brand building content across multiple platforms where each one has different audience consumption and engagement habits
Brand World Building
Something that I found tough at times was the concept of building a world for the brand—where each post should encapsulate one or two content pillars but not all
Intentional Content
In a social landscape where social media management is led by chasing virality, intentionality and brand led content is slowly declining
PROCESS
01 — PLAN
All client onboarding begun with the process of immersing myself in the brand. To understand their branding, their tone of voice, their audiences and their markets
02 — COORDINATE
Collaborate with the rest of my team to present the client with a strategy deck which includes: market analysis, competitor analysis, trends that would work for their industry
03 — DELIVER
Over the course of working with the clients, I'd plan shoots to capture & edit assets around the overall brand strategy & content pillars
